Attempted to contact Navient on issues related to tax documentation for my student loans from - College previously located in - - Minnesota. I needed to contact a department to clear up any issues regarding ineligibility for tax deductions. I called their customer service line listed on their website, I was routed to the collections team. I explained I would pay the past due balance online and asked to be transfered to the customer service, or any department that could clarify my tax information, the service rep advised he was unable to transfer me anywhere until my account was brought current. I spoke with his supervisor -, who advised the same thing, once my account was 15 days past due they were unable to provide me a direct customer service line or transfer my call out. I do not believe this company should be able to withhold information on my account due to it being past due, by doing this they are not allowing me to correct my tax information and opening me up to risk on misrepresenting tax deduction information to the IRS. I clearly outlined I did not need the current years information, but instead needed to resolve an ongoing issue.
