In - -, my mother passed away. She was leasing a vehicle from Hyundai Motor Finance at the time of her death. In - -, I assumed the rest of the lease payments - through - - ). I am currently trying to refinance my home and learned Hyundai Motor Finance reported to the credit reporting agencies that I had - late payments for the leased vehicle in/around - -. This reporting is negatively affecting my credit and thus making it difficult to secure a loan based on stellar credit scores ( my credit is now - w/ the perceived late payments ... normally - ). Hyundai Motor Finance is telling me I assumed all the negative credit information that is associated with the lease prior to me assuming it. This type of reporting is clearly inaccurate and can not be correct. Please help with this. Thank you.
