Hyundai Capital America Consumer loan department,
Vehicle lease Managing the loan or lease Pennsylvania
I leased a 2015 - - in - 2015. The dealer provided financing through Kia Motors Finance ( KMFUSA.com ). I received a - statement in the last week of the month with a due date of - - and promptly paid it. As with all credit accounts, I expect a monthly paper statement to show transactions, interest, etc. and make the next due payment with a personal check via -. I did not receive a - statement for the -. - due date. Without the statement reminder, I did not make a payment. Later in the month they called to complain the account was delinquent and confirmed their system never issued a monthly statement. I offered to make the account whole by providing a credit card payment via phone. They said they could not accept that form of payment, but I could give them a debit card, or my checking account data. I do not own a debit card and do not carry my checkbook with me. I mailed a payment on -. -. On -. -, a -. statement arrived with an -/-/- due date. That payment went in the mail the next day. But I did not recognize a $20.00 late fee or pay it. When contacted, the KMFUSA said that I should have known by the terms of my lease that a payment is due every month on the - and it should be made whether I get a statement or not! That 's - poor customer service. As a best business practice what financing arm expects payments every month without delivering statements?!?!? Is there any consumer financial protection that they are required to provide a statement so I can tear off the remittance coupon, include my check and mail it back to them?
