Credit card False statements or representation Attempted to collect wrong amount California
Back in - I stopped making payments on a $1600.00 - credit card as my identity had been stolen and was going through financial difficulties. It seems that in - - decides to sue me but I was never served. - attorneys put a judgement against me and continues to try to collect the debt. I settled the debt with - back in - - and part of my settlement condition was that they would remove the judgement. That was not done. The attorneys are the Winn Law Group in -, CA. I am now trying to sell a piece of property I own but the judgement is showing up on my credit report. When I got the information from the escrow company as to who to call, I called them and they sent me a letter trying to settle the debt that I had already settled and the amount had gone up to $6400.00. I got a letter from - that my account had been settled and to please remove the judgement and my name from their list back in - -, -. To date, I have not received a response from them and the judgement still appears in my credit report. I called - and they told me that there is nothing they can do because the judgement was entered by Winn Law Group and that Winn Law Group has to remove it.
