Credit card Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt resulted from identity theft Tennessee
I have been a victim of identity theft. I had filed a previous complaint against the original creditor on -/-/- with the CFPB. CFPB Case number : - was the complaint against - for an - - credit card, account ending in -, that was charged after I had lost my wallet. On -/-/-, I received a letter from - stating:1. That this debt was discharged by -. 2. All Charges were removed. 3. All credit reporting agencies will be notified to remove the account from my credit report. I have since been receiving collection letters from a Nationwide Credit , Inc. on -/-/-, -/-/- and -/-/- attempting to collect on this debt. I assumed the first - letters, even though they were one day apart in their creation, were so close to the date of the discharge that Nationwide Credit , Inc. had not been notified of the decision by -. When I received the letter dated -/-/-, I can only assume that Nationwide Credit is illegally collecting on this debt.
