As the Compliance Officer for Service First Mortgage ( - - ), I field calls from very angry customers who have been told to skip mortgage payments and now have late mortgage payments reflecting on their credit report. November 4, 2016 - Service 1st mortgage claims to help veterans but what they actually are doing is ripping them off with outrageous fees. They also solicit borrowers within 3 months of closing on a refinance to try and refinance again. ( Churning ) Also they have individuals who work on loan files with private information ( credit report, income documentation and social security number ) The files are not stored in locked file cabinets and they are scattered everywhere and not stored away. March 10, 2016 - I was contacted by a company called Service 1st Mortgage that offered to lower my monthly payments by refinancing and also promised an escrow refund and 2 months off of payments. The process was supposed to take 2 months, but 5 months later we were still working. The day of the closing, I noticed that the paperwork said that my first payment would be due in a month, instead of in 2 months like I was told.
