Consumers have the right to request a validation of debt to ensure that the company collecting the debt has not made an error. Sending me notice of the amount I supposedly owe does not prove that I owe the debt ; it merely proves that their company seeks to collect the specified amount. In response to my request, I received a letter from Rash Curtis noting the amount I allegedly owe which was incorrect ( such as the location I received treatment ) and a copy of an outdated patient ledger/statement. When I disputed the validity of this debt with the company through a validation letter sent via certified return receipt mail, the company turned around and verified the debt as a valid debt to the credit bureaus, whereas they were required by the FDCPA to report the debt as " disputed. I never received services from the hospital and the hospital has been closed for over a year and a half. The collection company is called Rash Curtis. Originally I have - accounts on my credit from this company.
