Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer Received bad information about my loan California
Attended the now-shutting down - - in -, CA. During my time as a -, I had a car accident and had to leave before my finale year. Upon returning, my federal loans through - seemingly split with Sallie Mae who was now handling them, but these turned out to be private loans. Now, my grandfather ( who co-signed with me ) are paying my - - private loans month-to-month and - says I do n't have to pay until I find work, which I 'm not finding anywhere across the state of California, and Sallie Mae is calling us daily with robocalls to harass us to pay - different loans at once. Initially Sallie Mae told me they would switch me to Graduate Repayment ( interest only ) but this has not happened, nor has consolidation ( - - also claimed to lower our payments but never did ), and I do n't know what to do. My grandfather is the only one generating income and it 's barely enough for us to keep the house, so we do n't know what to do and it seems like other students both from my school and around the country feel like they are being scammed by Sallie Mae.
