JPMorgan Chase & Co. Credit card department,
In - of 2016, my family and I decided to plan a vacation - in - of 2016. I placed a reservation - which I would pay at the hotel and there was no cost cancelation as long as the reservation was cancelled at least 24 hours before the expected stay. The next day, on -/-/2016, I surprisingly noticed that -. charged my Chase Visa for half the cost of the reservation. When I called the hotel I was told this was standard to hold the room and if I cancelled it would be refunded in full. The first week of - in 2016, I cancelled the room. When I contacted Chase regarding the transaction, I heard on a recording that the hotel had processed the credit. I spoke to a Chase representative and requested that they also refund me for the interest they charged on the $130.00 transaction. I was told they would n't and there was nothing that could be done. This caused me great frustration. My current interest rate is 18.24 %. The payment of $130.00 was charged interest on my account for -, -, and - of 2016. Thus, I now have to pay Chase $72.00 in interest for something I never received. On -/-/2016 I spoke with multiple departments and employees of Chase to try and get the interest that I was charged for service not used, to be refunded. I was told that there was nothing they could due since the hotel ran the payment as a sale and not an authorization. Thus, Chase just made free money off me that I will have to pay even though I never received or used the goods or services they are charging me for. This is unfair and feels illegal. I should n't have to foot a bill for something I never used or had. I want something to be done.
