JPMorgan Chase & Co. Credit card department,
Last month I paid off the entire previous balance ( $1500.00 ) and new balance ( $11.00 ) of my Chase credit card ( a total amount of $1500.00 ), 11 days before the statement closing date, bringing my balance to -. However, this month I received a bill for interest on the previous balance that was paid off in its entirety ( Balance : -, interest charged to me and due by - -, 2016 is $11.00 ). My understanding is that if you pay off the entire balance before the statement end date, then no interest should be charged on the purchases. This is how it works with my Chase Southwest Credit Card and - Credit Card. I called Chase 's customer service line twice tonight. The first time the woman was not helpful and argued with me and did not have very good English. I then told her I wanted to cancel my credit card and she made up some excuse that there was a long 10 minute wait to get transferred to someone else who could cancel my credit card. I then hung up with her and called back to try to get someone else and she also did not have good English and told me that all of their systems were down and to call back in 1 hour!! What is going on!!? This seems like fraud to me and I would like this investigated. I do not feel that I should have to pay interest on a balance that I paid down to - 11 DAYS BEFORE THE BILLING CYCLE END DATE.
