Last year, I switched banks to Santander Bank because they were advertising the Extra - checking in which they credited your savings account $20.00 per month if you met certain activity requirements on the attached checking account. In radio ads, they clearly implied and stated it was not a limited time perk, but " forever ''. I again asked this when I opened the account and was told it would not be changed. In an - - letter I was informed they would be changing my checking account to a simply right checking effective - -, 2016. So now the $240.00 per year perk has been eliminated. I feel this was an unfair and deceptive practice because I was clearly lead to believe this was n't going to be changed or a bait and switch tactic - which it clearly was for me and the thousands of other people who believed them.
