Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer Received bad information about my loan Georgia
I was a co-signer on a Sallie Mae student loan. The primary borrower filed bankruptcy and ceased payments. I was not notified by the creditor that payments were late until AFTER the account went to collections. No voicemail 's, emails, or snail mail until after my near perfect credit score was damaged to the tune of - points. Sallie Mae claims their fallible computer system shows notices were sent. They sent them to me for the first time as part of a - complaint response at which point I confirmed I never received them the first time. Sallie Mae claims that removing this negative mark from my credit report is " illegal '' and a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting act, claiming they have no discretion to work with credit agencies to resolve this matter.
