Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer Trouble with how payments are handled Pennsylvania

I took a $5000.00 loan from Sallie Mae. I faithfully made payments for 5 years. My father passed and I had to quit working and move in with my mother. The loan defaulted. They are now demanding I pay it in full and will not offer reasonable loan repayment options.
