My company offers an HSA ( health savings account ) health insurance option with the HSA provided by - and BNY Mellon. During the benefits enrollment period in - 2015, my company *strongly* encouraged everyone to sign up for the HSA option over the tradtional PPO plans. I generally like the concept of HSAs and signed up for one, opting to contribute the maximum limit. Now -/-/-, BNY Mellon has unilaterally decided to impose a $ -/month fee on all balances below $5000.00. This was apparently a right reserved to them per the account terms to which we had to agree in order to opt-in to the HSA plan. As a consumer and employee, I never had the opportunity to fairly negotiate this as part of my benefits.
