Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer Received bad information about my loan Washington
In 2007 I graduated from the University of -. On - -, 2007 I refinanced my student loans on a 20 year fixed rate loan with a monthly payment of $240.00. Over the years I have made minimum payments religiously, in some instances I paid more than the minimum payment. The loan has been sold several times, the current institution is Navient. I received a letter from Navient telling me in 60 days they are changing the terms of my loan and are basing that change on time remaining in repayment, outstanding balance, interest rate, past delinquency and/or late payments, resumption of standard repayment after a period of reduced payments, other account activity that may have affected the repayment schedule. None of these factors apply, my loan is a fixed rate loan with a specific time period so how could my time or % rate have changed? I have not been late, nor asked for a reduced payment. My question is, " is it legal for Navient to just change the terms of my fixed rate loan? ''
