I took a private student loan with - - ( Navient ) in the amount of $10000.00 with my mother as a co-signer in 2008. I was attending - University in -, FL. My new balance is over $19000.00. They offered a settlement amount of $15000.00. I am currently applying for SS - and my co-signer 's only income is social security. We have both declared bankruptcy in the last year and have asked them repeatedly to accept a smaller payment amount and they refused so I am sending them a small payment monthly. They are calling on a daily basis and stating that they will not accept the payment I am making so I told them to send it back and I would report them for not accepting it. I am sending what I can afford. I have repeatedly asked that they quit calling my cell phone and they said that I had to send a letter. Which I am sending and now they are saying that they only have to follow that if " approved ''. I have told them if they continue to call after I send the letter I will contact my attorney. What options do I have?
