TransUnion Credit reporting department,
Incorrect information on credit report Public record Virginia
I had a personal Fine Art business called -. I started this business in - and by fall of - it was still loosing money and I initiated a consultation to consider bankruptcy. I decided to file for bankruptcy and was told that the filing would stay on my credit report for seven years. For the past seven years I have had to pay higher rates on everything and have been patiently waiting for the 7years to pass so I can get my credit score back in good standing. I signed up with a credit reporting agency this past fall to review my credit score and correct anything that was wrong and make any other changes necessary. I requested that some items be investigated and received the Trans Union investigation results stating that my Chapter - bankruptcy filed on -/-/- will not be removed until -. This is a complete surprise and not what I was initially told. What can be done about this? I may have sought other avenues had I known that this bankruptcy would stay on my credit report for a full 10 years. Either I was given wrong information or the decision changed recently in which case I do n't feel that it should apply to me. Please advise.
