Synchrony Bank Credit card department,
Credit line increase/decrease Minnesota
I had opened a JCPenny credit account with the intent to rarely use it and help build my credit. My understanding was that one part of building good credit was by having available ( unused ) credit. After a period of time ( 1 or 2 years ), I received a notice that Synchrony Bank ( the JCPenny card backer ) was closing my account due to inactivity. My loss of available credit caused by credit score to go down. In addition to that I received notice from Synchrony bank that my Amazon Card limit was being reduced. I found out that Synchrony Bank actively pulls credit scores of it 's current clients, without making it clear that they will be doing this ( I 'm guessing it is buried deep in Synchrony 's legal gibberish ). If they feel a clients score no longer meets their criteria, they automatically reduce or close the clients account, regardless of the status of the account.
