I am a graduate of - in -, NY. I have - private loans services by Navient. They loans have now entered repayment and the total due monthly is about $730.00. In tandem with my federal loan debt obligations, these payments combined with my housing costs consist of 85 % of my monthly income. It is unsustainable for me to possibly keep up such high payments. Upon calling Navient, I was informed that only - of my loans was eligible for a temporary reduction ( 12mos ) after which my payments would become even higher than they were originally. I was told that my other loan could not be reduced because it was disbursed before - -. I requested more information about this " - - '' deadline and only received repeated answers, " it was disbursed before - - '' and no other explanation. I attempted to explain the financial hardship these payment costs placed on me but was met with indifference every step of the way.
