Incorrect information on credit report Reinserted previously deleted info District of Columbia
My agency recently conducted a background investigation on me that included a criminal and credit check. The credit report revealed a collections item from - - that is over 20 years old ( - ) The debt was settled and closed several years ago. When I purchased my home -/-/-, this debt resurfaced. I disputed the debt and had it removed from my report then. Now, nearly 10 years later, this issue is resurfacing. I work for a financial regulatory agency and fiscal responsibility is a condition of employment. TransUnion is the only Bureau that shows this item in collections. The fact that - - is allowed to report on an account that has been closed over 20 years AND TransUnion accepts this report is egregious. - - continues this post mortem debt reporting because they have not been held accountable. My employer is threatening removal if this is not resolved in 30 days. I need to get this matter resolved expeditiously and some level of assurance that - can not continue these predatory practices.
