I asked my mortgage company, PHH Mortgage, if I could make bi-weekly payments. I was told that their company no longer accepts bi-weekly payments, and that even if I sent them it would not accelerate the amortization of my mortgage - i.e. they would still treat my bi-weekly payments as monthly.
