I made a downpayment on a car for my daughter over the phone for $1100.00. I faxed the credit card number to the merchantd asking that it be put on my card. The credit card company put it thru as a cash advance and charged me $50.00 fee plus $17.00 in interest. I contacted them and told them that I did not authorize it as a cash advance. I have plenty of cash and would never take out a cash advance for anything!. They said that the merchant put it thru as a cash advance and that they could not reverse the fees. I told them this was an unauthorized charge and that I would not pay the fee and that they could close my account. They refused to credit me the unauthorized amount.
