Discover Student loan department,
Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer Maryland
I am a parent co-signer on student loans for my son. The resolution I want is to be removed from this Discover loan as a co-signer. In -/-/-, we borrowed $26000.00 for my son 's tuition at the - College. The balance now is higher than it was to begin with. The lender was -. In -/-/- or thereabouts Discover bought the loans. Having read about President Obama saying that parent co-signers can be removed from a loan, I contacted Discover and they told me that there had been delinquent payments so I could not be removed. I am not sure why I was underwritten for loans by ( formerly ) - in the first place as I do n't make enough to even cover the payments on the - student loans I cosigned. ( My family helped me pay - off because I was so stressed. ) I can not afford these payments and still pay my mortgage, gas and food. Now I am getting collections letters from Discover. I had good credit before all this.
