Medical Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed debt is not mine

Medical Cont'd attempts collect debt not owed Debt is not mine New Mexico

My husband accrued medical debt after we separated. I have a court filed document in which he stated that our date of separation was prior to his accruing the medical debt. The debt went into collection and the collection company is reporting that it is a joint debt because we were married. The debt was included in the divorce decree as his alone but the collection company is refusing to remove me as a joint owner of the debt. I have disputed it with - and - and they informed me that it is a joint debt. We were not together at time of debt and in his court response to the Petition for Divorce he stated we were separated prior to date he sought out medical treatment. His court response is proof that we were not together at the time the debt was accrued. We were not living in the same state. Therefore the debt is not joint.
