I have a court filed document in which he stated that our date of separation was prior to his accruing the medical debt. The debt went into collection and the collection company is reporting that it is a joint debt because we were married. The debt was included in the divorce decree as his alone but the collection company is refusing to remove me as a joint owner of the debt. I contacted - - - - to find out who they were and why they were showing up on my credit report. they explained that my ex-wife had care there. I asked what that had to do with me, not only where we divorced, but the divorce decree said she had to have her own insurance long before this visit.
