After 3 hours of - communications with - different TransUnion Consumer Fraud Special Agents '' I am at wits end trying to understand how any parent in Virginia can possibly have the required documentation to enable a minor 's credit freeze. I am attempting to freeze the credit file of - of my minor children.The following block of information details the elusive documentation in question : - of the following qualifying documents indicating that the requestor has Proof of Authority of the named individual : - Court Order- Power of Attorney ( not applicable for NY or T- residents ) - Written, Notarized and Signed Description of Authority ( not applicable for VA residents ) ; I have birth certificates, SSN cards, passports, other forms of identification, adoption decrees, and bills verifying my VA address, but what parent has any of the above listed Proof of Authority ''? The - issue I had was with the attempted extortion of fees for the free service. The - - TransUnion representatives tried to collect $10.00 to process the lock. The - representative was the - to acknowledge that the lock should be free. I have rejection documents claiming I submitted the documents, but failed to pay the $10.00 fee. The site states : $10.00 ( Medically incapacitated AND not a victim of ID theft ) Free ( Minor under age of - OR medically incapacitated AND a victim of ID theft ) Boolean logic evaluates ANDs before ORs, thus it is free for minors under -.
