I accidentally transferred money to the wrong person through Wells Fargo Surepay. I entered the wrong phone number. I made a claim with Wells Fargo and their policy is 7-10 business days to investigate the claims. They contacted the other financial institution and there were n't enough funds in the account to return the funds. They communicated to me that there was nothing else they could do. I have three concerns about this process. First, there should be a way to match up the phone number and name of the recipient for money transfers. They currently only match up the phone number. Second, Wells Fargo took too long to investigate the claim. The individual withdrew the unfds by the time they looked into it. Lastly, Wells Fargo should continue to request the funds until there is enough to return the full amount.
