Have been charged late fees since May 2016 by BP, Synchrony Bank. I pay my credit cards, online through my bank, and since we are retired and receive Social Security ( SS ) the - and - of each month, I pay them ahead, usually the - or - of the month for the next months bill to avoid late fees. I noticed the above statement for -, 2016 had a late fee. I called them and they said any money they received after the due date, but still in the present month is credited to that month. They consider my payments as late, not in advance. The account was originally made by us with -, not Synchrony. Since I only view my statement once in awhile, I did not realize they were doing this. First I never received a notice stating the change of companies and/or stating the change in payment rules. - never required me to pay ahead in the month it was due. I always enter the date for the payment to be credited for and they obliged. How can I get help about this, since the only one I have been able to talk to is in the -. I asked for a supervisor, the first time and was told I needed to get my husbands permission to discuss it any further. The second time, today, I waited on the phone at least 15 or more minutes and still no supervisor. Are there no banking/credit card regulations regarding this to protect the consumer from literally be robbed of funds? Please help. I ca n't find anyone at Synchrony to communicate with.
