I was informed - certificates of deposits were closed as being dormant, even though they were rolled over just this year. The funds were sent to the State of New Jersey, though the state has no record of the transfer. Not only did I not think the accounts were dormant, I received emails from the bank ( Ally Bank ) when they were rolled over saying, " The loyalty reward at renewal is automatic, you do n't have to do a thing. '' - CDs had a rollover within the last calendar year, which belies the bank 's claim that the accounts were dormant for 18 months.
