Wells Fargo & Company Credit Card Complaint

Unsolicited issuance of credit card

Wells Fargo & Company Credit card department,

Unsolicited issuance of credit card Colorado

In 2004 I created a deposit account with Wells Fargo at a Colorado - location. The account representative offered a service for an additional overdraft protection credit card with the opening of my account. I partially competed the form and decided to forgo the overdraft protection credit card and asked the form to be destroyed. After I closed my deposit account with the bank I was notified that I had unsettled account balances on a credit card I never authorized. After much back and forth with various representatives the bank had agreed to drop the card and charges which were never authorized. The issue remained as a negative account on my credit bureau for many years. After hearing the unfortunate news that this has happened to others, I wanted to share my experience that predated the recent news article regarding the creation of false accounts and I highly recommend a more thorough investigation be performed as the issue has a longer history than what is currently known.
