Mercedes-Benz Financial Services Consumer Loan department,
Vehicle lease Managing the loan or lease New Jersey
I leased a Mercedes-Benz C300 vehicle from Mercedes-Benz of -, -, in - -. At the same time, I returned my prior leased Mercedes-Benz C300 vehicle ( a - model ) to the dealership. The - car was registered in - and, accordingly, bore - license plates. ( I moved from - to - just a few weeks before starting the new lease ). The sales consultant with whom I worked assured me that the license plates on the - car would be dealt with appropriately when I returned the vehicle to the Mercedes-Benz dealership. However, several months ago, I received a bill from Mercedes-Benz Financial Services for nearly $900.00 in taxes owed to - -, -, because the - DMV never received the plates. I have called and emailed the dealership repeatedly since that time to attempt to figure out where the plates are so that they can be returned to Connecticut, to no avail. I believe that Mercedes-Benz Financial Services has also attempted to contact the dealership. Mercedes-Benz Financial Services claims that I owe them for the $900.00 they spent on the - - tax, even though I no longer lived in - when the tax was assessed, the car should not have continued to be registered in -, and Mercedes-Benz Financial Services should therefore never have paid the tax bill.
