I applied for and received a mortgage in - from BB & T. At the time they asked if I would like a free checking account. I decided I could make use of a different bank having an account, so I accepted the free checking account. I paid the mortgage faithfully. I sold my home in - - and paid off the mortgage. I did not close the checking account. I rented a new place, I found a new home, I moved my furniture, I remodeled and redecorated. This is to explain why I did not sit down and read my monthly statements from an account that never had any transactions from me in 5 months. Finally I looked at the account statements from BB & T ( who had never charged anything for an account with - dollars in it ) to find out they were now charging me $ -!!! maintenance on an account I wrote - checks per year out of.


likely to remember the fine print in the mortgage they signed 4 years earlier. This fine print in the mortgage was the explanation I was given when I went to the local branch. They said someone would call and talk to me about the other 2 months worth of fees $60.00. But no one even attempted to call me or refund the ill gotten gains.
