A few months back I received an offer from American Express to convert portions of my Gold Card charges to a pay over time feature which would allow me to pay any charges over $100.00 over time instead of the total balance at the end of each billing cycle. I was informed, upon the receipt of my first bill, that the balance of my Gold Card, prior to signing up for the offer would not be transferred to the pay over time billing. Thus, I was now on the hook for over - which I never expected and my account is delinquent. This was never disclosed or explained to me when I took the offer. It was my understanding, as per Amex 's disclosure to me, that the portion of the balance that included charges over $100.00 would be transferred to the pay over time feature. In addition, I am now receiving nasty letters from American Express, a suspension of my account and a reduction in my credit score. I contacted Amex in an effort to resolve this and spent 80 minutes on the phone with - different people. I told them it could easily be resolved by transferring the balance to the pay over time feature like I thought it was originally going to do and that I am in the current predicament because of their inadequate and vague disclosure relating to the pay over time offer. I spent 80 minutes on the phone, with - or - different people who ran me circles and pretty much told me that they could not help me and that there was no one who could. I have always had an outstanding record with Amex but at this point I am disgusted at the fact they can not resolve a situation I feel they caused.
