I received a phone call from a debt collector on - - stating I owed over $200.00 to an apartment community. I was confused as I have not lived there for over one year and received nothing in the mail regarding any debts. I made clear to the young lady that I was unaware of a debt and would like some documentation showing that I do owe this amount. I told her my new address and she promised to send something to me soon. Today -/-/15 I received another call from the same debt collection agency. I explained my last conversation to this new agent. He responded with very abusive language calling me a liar. He said there was no way the other agent would have ever said that and If you do n't have the money, just say so. Do n't lie about it '' He became so aggressive, I had no choice but to end the phone call. A co-worker decided to offer me some help and we called the agency together. The first person we spoke with,


) repeatedly talked over both of us eventually devolving into shouting. We repeatedly attempted to tell him that I have still not received any documentation validating the debt. He shouted over and over that one was mailed in - and that they were only required to send one. We again told him it was not received ( he said we were lying ) and that the original agent had failed to submit the validation request. His timeline of events and tone of voice changed drastically once I informed him that a recording of our conversation would be sent to the Attorney General. We had no choice but to end the phone call as it was clear this would not be resolved. There is much more to this incident but one can not understand without hearing the recordings.
