Closing/Cancelling account Florida

I had several accounts with GE Capital they were all in good standing showing no late payments. Once synchrony took over they first lowered my limit and then after I paid the balances they close the account.This has drastically affected my credit score and I do notice through other complaints that this is a common practice with synchrony. I have other credit card companies and none of them have lowered any balance or close my account.
