On -/-/2015, Citibank NA issued a tiny check to me as refund for " certain fees [ that ] were billed by Citi during periods when not all of the program benefits were provided. '' This is in association with the $700.00 - in penalties levied on Citibank in -/-/2015 for misleading consumers into buying services they did n't need, did n't know they were paying for, or did n't do what the services purported to do. I found the misplaced check today and even though it was a very tiny check, called Citibank to see if they could reissue it. The number I called that was listed on the check led me to a phishing effort in another country that tried to get me to give them my credit card number in return for a " $100.00 gift card to -. '' I then called Citibank Customer Service, which took


it into a branch. Granted, this is a tiny check and barely worth my time - but what interests me is that Citibank, having scammed some - customers in -/-/2015, is now claiming that they have no idea that that issue existed, that refunds were issued, or that they have any responsibility for the refund. It seems to me that Citibank is compounding the original fraud. And while my unrecoverable tiny refund check is not all that important to me personally and would barely cover the cost of a cup of fancy coffee, Citibank 's disingenuous behavior regarding this issue does matter, potentially multiplied by a few - consumers.
