Citibank Credit card department,
I just sent this to Macy 's but hope you will follow up too! -/-/- To : Macy 's - - -, OH - From : - - Customer Dear Macy 's Customer Service, I have been a credit card customer for around 6 years and a non-card customer prior to that. I recently received a bill with a $27.00 late fee. I double checked my online credit union bill pay which showed that my payment in fact did arrive on the due date, -/-/-, on the bill I received in the mail. As I was busy, I went ahead and paid the balance and late fee, intending to call later. My balance was -/-/- was now $98.00 which included a $27.00 late fee. But because I 'd learned earlier that customer service ca n't give an exact amount owed due to interest,
so, but was stunned that Macy 's would be so unethical. NO OTHER credit card company I use does this. In addition on my bill it states this : Late Payment Warning : If we do not receive your minimum payment by the date listed above, you may have to pay a late fee up to $37.00. My -/-/- payment had in fact arrived on the date listed but I was assessed a late fee. Then I got a bill -/-/- with an $.00 balance. So I called. Customer service removed the $27.00 late fee minus the $.00. I will receive a credit but my concern is the short billing period to pay and the ability for Macy 's to make tons of money off unsuspecting customers using bill pay. I plan to cut up my Macy 's card after receiving the credit as I do n't ' want to support what amounts to " Gotcha Capitalism '' and to warn friends. I 've been hopeful that regulations would fix credit card issues but this is discouraging. I really enjoyed shopping at Macy 's but this is in my mind, unethical and I can not support it. I 'd be interested in knowing how much money Macy 's makes with this policy and fear that if customers do n't complain, other stores will follow your example. I would appreciate a response. Thank you, - -
