Citibank Credit card department,
Credit card protection / Debt protection Pennsylvania
I recently discovered that I was " enrolled '' in a credit card protection insurance plan for my Macy 's credit card. I called and cancelled the plan, but discovered that I have been enrolled in the plan since the date that I applied for the credit card in -/-/2009, and have been paying this " insurance '' for close to 8 years and have spent a total of $290.00. I believe the insurance/credit protection company is called " - direct, -, and they are affiliated with Citi Credit Cards. I called to obtain their exact name, and even this was an issue. They informed me that their name was " - '' affiliated with -. They claim that you specifically enroll in this program when you apply for the credit card ; however, I would clearly never explicitly opt in to a scam such as this. I am sure that I am not the only person that is experiencing this " surprise. '' These companies should have to obtain your explicit consent to enroll you in this program, and should also e-mail/and send you monthly communications, allowing you to be aware of not only the amount of money that you have paid them, but also so you are aware that you are even enrolled in the program.
