Barclays PLC Credit card department,
I was advised last week that a credit limit on a card I have issued to me by Barclay Card was lowered from $8600.00 to $6500.00. I contacted the organization, and they advised that the right to reduce ( or raise ) the credit limit exists at their discretion, and it 's explained in the credit agreement that I signed when I had my card opened. While I did find that, what is troubling is that they accessed my credit report without my explicit authorization. I granted Barclay the right to access my credit report when I first opened the card, but not any subsequent times, which they assert is how they came to the conclusion to reduce my credit limit. I 've NEVER given Barclay ANY reason to think I would n't pay my credit card payment or the balance due. I 've always paid on time, I 've even paid off the card in total in the past. This reduction is unacceptable to me, as it should be to anyone who is an account holder at Barclay.
