Harris & Harris contacted me on -/-/2016 via my private cell phone number at around - pm EST. After telling me that I owed something like $140.00 for some type of medical bill, I was asked to provide my date of birth. I told the caller that I would not reveal my date of birth to a stranger over the phone. I told her that I believed that doing so was a risk as I did n't know who this person was. There was no information provided to me about the nature of the debt - what was it for? When was I billed last? I told the caller that I would not be able to provide my private, personal information such as my birth date to stranger, over the phone absent additional, confirming information. As a matter of practice, I do n't reveal my private information to strangers of the phone. Upon telling the caller that I would need more information, she became very aggressive and told me that I would be marked up for " refusal to pay. '' I told her that was nonsense and I asked her to send me another letter in the mail. She stated that I had already been sent a letter for debt collection and therefore I had refused to pay and therefore they would not send me another letter. I told her that I 'm sorry but that it could have been misplaced or otherwise and again asked for an additional letter. She refused and told me that she was officially closing my case as " refusal to pay '' and then she hung up. I believe this was the second time that Harris & Harris called me about the same debt. I responded the same each time - absent additional confirmatory information about the identity of the caller and the nature of the debt, that I would not reveal my private information such as my birth date, over the phone to a stranger.
