Hello, I had a balance on my Chase - credit card carried over from a prior month. During the month of -/-/- I made $1600.00 in cash advances. I then made a payment before the end of the billing cycle for $6000.00. Chase did not apply any of the $6000.00 toward the cash advance. They applied it to the balance that was on the account at the start of the billing cycle. They claim that the cash advance would have to carry over to next months statement before the additional payment would be applied. So if I had waited - more days to make the payment, they would have applied the payment to the higher apr balance. This is not the way I thought the law was written to protect consumers. I read it that it is applied to the highest apr balance first ( nothing mentioned about billing cycled ended ).
