JPMorgan Chase & Co. Credit card department,
Closing/Cancelling account Washington
I have a closed account with Chase which I have recently paid off completely as of -/-/2016. The remaining balance at the last statement date was $20.00. I paid $21.00 on -/-/- and had a credit balance of $0.00. On -/-/-, Chase issued a " debit adjustment '' and removed the $0.00 from my account. When I called today and asked why they did this and why a check for this amount had not been issued to me, the representative said that Chase routinely does debit adjustments to accounts with credit balances of $1.00 or less. I wanted to flag this for you because on an aggregate level, this must represent a very large amount of money that Chase is in essence stealing from customers. I was never contacted by Chase, either by an account notification, an email or a telephone call prior to the " debit adjustment '' occurring on my account.
