BB&T Financial Bank account or service department,
Checking account Deposits and withdrawals Florida
On -/-/2016 I received a call from a representative of BB & T inquiring as to whether or not I knew a -, I responded No. I was then informed that it appeared that checks had been counterfeited, they did not match my checks and the signatures did not match but - checks # - - $1700.00, # - - $1700.00, and # - - $1700.00 had been processed against my account. The account was obviously overdrawn and more so with overdraft charges. I was advised to go to my bank branch and file the necessary fraud documents, which was done immediately. The bank representative advised that we closed the affected account and open a new one. This also was done, we now had only one check to access the new account, but were told our existing debit cards would be linked to the new account. This only partially worked and only one card was linked, so that when a medication copay of $2.00 was charged against that card, it was denied, and were were charged another overdraft charge on the old account. A bank representative was able to fix the link for the debit card. Then things got worse,
contacted the fraud unit and was told that there was no definite time that the funds would be restored and it could take as long as 90 days. I went back to the branch office, the rep called and was told that an investigator would be assigned on - and to call the fraud unit for an update at that time. In the interim I have been forced to withdraw funds from my 401K to cover property taxes, property insurance, and my mortgage payment with this same bank. I have had to contact Social Security, our life insurance companies, and all those with whom we have direct deposit agreements to make the appropriate changes. I feel that the bank 's resistance to reinstate my funds is unacceptable, this situation was a result of problems with their security and not my effort to protect my account. The bank informed me of the problem initially before I even knew it existed so they knew there was something wrong, with that said, I feel they are not responding reasonably.
