Non-federal student loan Dealing with my lender or servicer Need information about my balance/terms California
Wells Fargo Student Loan : I co-signed for my son 's student loan with Wells Fargo with an adjustable rate. We have been paying on time and even overpaying by a small amount. I wanted to consolidate the two loans to make it easier to pay, but they refused to consolidate even though I have a credit rating in the - 's. I own my home and have over $200000.00 in equity. They said in order to consolidate the two loans, it would be considered a new loan and my debt to income ratio was too high. I assured them I have an excellent repayment history and the only reason it was high is because of the loan I am currently paying to them. I told them if it had to be considered a new loan they could actually write the new loan check to themselves for the old two student loans to insure I was not going to spend it on anything else except the loan. They would not consolidate the loans. At this time I have repeatedly asked to see monthly statements with how much was paid, how much went to interest and what interest rate was currently being charged and to see a monthly balance. I was told they do n't do that. Are you kidding?!!! I have seen other people with this same problem and it does n't seem right.
