Amex Credit card department,
I called customer service to obtain information about foreign exchange fees and was advised that they did n't apply to my account prior to traveling to -. When foreign exchange fees appeared on my statement I called customer service again and I was advised that my card holder agreement indicated that foreign exchange fees applied to my account. When I complained about being provided misinformation on my previous call I was told that American Express provides appropriate training to their representatives, however, the cardholder agreement superceeded information that customer service representatives provided. When I initially called I was not offered a copy of my cardholder agreement and I was not advised that the cardholder agreement superceeded information that representatives provide. I was also advised that American Express did not have a customer complaint department and did not have a process to handle customer complaints.
