Citibank Credit card department,
The Home Depot Consumer Credit Card automatically allocates any payment to a deferred interest balance if said balance is due to expire within - billing cycles. This forces interest on any revolving balance. For instance I have a $500.00 dollar deferred interest balance and $250.00 in revolving balance. If I pay $400.00 it will lower the deferred balance to $100.00 and leave the revolving balance at $250.00. In a 30 day month that results in " forced '' interest charges of $5.00. I understand the idea behind this practice as it will help consumers pay off their deferred balances before the due date, but, for people who properly manage their accounts this becomes a major issue. Home Depot Credit Services is unable to change this automatic payment distribution.
