Credit monitoring or identity protection Problem with fraud alerts Illinois
I was advised in -. - by the IRS of identity theft after filing my - return. I completed all the necessary and required steps and had my credit reports locked down by all - agencies-I thought. I was advised by the IRS in - of - of of having my identity stolen again. I completed all the necessary steps. The IRS advised I apply for a pin number. I did but - of the requirements was to submit a credit card and to do that I needed to have my locked down report at Equifax to be temporarily lifted. I was unable to lift it because it said it had not been locked down and my only choice was to lock it down, not a choice to lift it. I attempted in every way to talk to someone but I found it impossible to have a voice contact with Equifax. This is unacceptable. If these types of organizations want to have the responsibility of the " keeper of the keys '', they need to make themselves readily available to the consumer and not hide behind websites and phone trees. These types of organizations need to be held accountable for easy access by the public when needed.
