My late mother passed away a year ago. She left a creditcard with Banco Popular of Puerto in her name with a high balance. The credit card division has filed a lawsuit demanding payment. My Attorney - - - has approached the credit card division of the bank and negotiated an agreement to pay off the outstanding balance from $38000.00 to $24000.00. My surving father has two CD 's which add up to more than $100000.00. My Attorney suggested to the bank that one of the Cd 's be cash and the monies be applied towards the outstanding balance. The people at the consumer division of the Banco Popular refuse to do this. Neither I nor my - sister have that kind of money. Could you folks please help me with this problem? I have dealt before with the bank 's Attorney - - - - at the banks legal division at - ext. -. I think the solution suggested makes common sense.
