I took a private student loan out with - - in -. I was in deferment of this loan until -/-/- due to half time school status. In - - of -, the loan was bought out by Wells Fargo. By - -, I was told that i was already $230.00 past due. I have record of payment for - through - with the request of a forbearance in - -. With no word on forebearance I continued to struggle through payments. However, payment was made in - and - and on - - -, I was defaulted. I worked with them to rehabilitate the loan despite continued hardship and the deferment of my other federal loans. I have record of payment to rehabilitate the loan from the - after deferment to -. In - of -, the loan was sent to a collection agency ( - - - ) They offered to settle out for $8400.00 which I did not have. I told them my financial income and expenses and said I could make payments of $150.00. They would not agree to this and continued to harass me until the following - - - ). Messages for this debt
to set up a payment plan that a cease and dissist letter was written so that they stopped contacting my employer. Since - of -, I have worked to try and continue sending payment. However I have no access to my wells fargo account online and neither the collection agency or wells fargo will return a call. The money I have sent is continued to be cashed but i have no way of seeing how much is owed ( if any ). Therefore, I have no way of settling out or continuing to make payment and know that it is being applied legally to the loan. Despite any past hardship I might have had, I paid this loan in accordance to the promissory note terms and feel i was illegally put into default. Regardless of the default I am now able to pay this loan but currently have no way of knowing where my money is going and what is left to pay. Any help is appreciated!!! I am working hard to do the right and honest thing.
