Bank of America Credit card department,
Advertising and marketing Rhode Island
Bank of America has a section on its website where you can " check for customized offers. '' I did and based on the wording, the website made it seem as though the bank was pre-qualifying me for a credit card, and with this confidence I applied and was denied adding a hard inquiry into my credit report. The wording for the " check customized offers '' section makes it seem as if consumers searching for credit are pre-qualified for the credit cards listed because one is not able to see the credit cards until entering information such as name, social security number, date of birth etc. This is very misleading for consumers and costing them a hard inquiry which then affects their credit score! Bank of America must stop this misleading practice, essentially billing a " customized offer '' as a pre-qualification offer of sorts.
